I’ve recently begun decluttering, including a closet packed with boxes that have remained unopened since I moved from the U.K. seven years ago. I have discovered photos of my children, old friends, and long-deceased relatives. I found letters from old friends, birthday and Father’s Day cards from my kids. I even unboxed literature essays I’d written in University. Every photo, letter, and card brought back memories. Each told a story.
